Dan Spencer has been a photographer since the good ol' days of film.
Dan started his journey into photography when he received a 35mm Pentax K-1000 film camera as a wedding gift back in 1982. (this was such a strange gift as Dan had no desire or interest in photography) the odd thing was, Dan couldn't afford a professional photographer for his wedding so there are no "real" photographs of this event!

After the honeymoon, Dan picked up the camera and started playfully shooting photos with it and got "bit by the photography bug". Dan couldn't afford college or photography school nor could he apprentice with an established photographer, so he did the next best thing... he went to the local public library and, eventually, checked out every single book on photography and read them cover to cover!

Completely self taught, Dan got to hone his skills in photography when he was promoted to the detective division of the police dept that he had been employed with for three years. Photographing the grisly side of society. Everything from gruesome homicides to fatal traffic accidents and autopsies, After seven years with the dept, Dan opted to aim his lens at the "nicer side of society" and specialized in Beauty & Glamour Portraits.

Dan eventually ran a successful photography studio in Porterville, California before settling down here in Bakersfield, Ca.

Dan shoots in 100% Digital Format and is both a successful Photographer and "PhotoShop Junkie".

Dans photographic works are held in private collections throughout the Pacific Northwest and have been published in both .JPEG Magazine and PinUp Garage Magazine

Dan was a 2009 Contributing Photographer of HELP-Portrait and is currently the 2010 Vice President of Kern Photographers Association.
